Changes to how a child sits the PSLE or a national exam, approved by SEAB (the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board). Common ones are extra time (usually about 25%), a separate room, a reader or reader pen, a scribe or word processor, and enlarged question papers.
SEAB's panel reviews each application on its own evidence. Your child's school submits the application on your behalf.
For PSLE school candidates, the school must submit by mid-February of the exam year. For secondary school candidates, by end-February. Applications for learning disabilities made less than 2 months before the exams are not accepted. Schools can apply up to a year ahead.
A diagnosis from a qualified professional on a recognised register, such as the Singapore Register of Psychologists. Some arrangements, like a reader, scribe, word processor or more than the standard extra time, also need a current profile of need dated within 3 years of the exam year. The school adds its own observation report.
Since January 2025, students already approved for the same condition don't need to resubmit diagnostic reports for later national exams. Requests for complex support, like a reader or scribe, still need an updated report.
Your child can't then apply for special consideration for the same condition. This is why starting early matters.

A 1-hour timed practice session per subject, using the arrangements your child will have on the day: extra time, a reader pen or typing. You get written feedback on pacing. It costs S$150 per subject per hour, and Navigator Plus includes 2 hours.
Extra time only helps if your child knows how to use it. Many schools only give arrangements during major exams such as the End-of-Year, not during Weighted Assessments, so the national exam can be the first time your child uses them under real exam conditions. Timed practice lets your child get used to the arrangements, and lets you see through trial and error which ones actually help, while there is still time to adjust. One timed hour per subject builds pacing and confidence.
